What should you know before signing up?

Why does JOI need a closer look at billing?

JOI is not simply a free-versus-paid switch. The terms describe Basic access, Premium membership and separate purchases linked to individual characters. Neurons are another spending layer for services outside those access packages. Before paying, ask which part of that stack the displayed amount buys.

A practical checkout check is to write down three answers: what renews, which character becomes available, and what usage remains metered. If any one is unclear, the headline price is not enough to compare with another companion. We have left the price unconfirmed rather than substituting an old promotional figure.

Does buying a character mean permanent standalone access?

Not necessarily. JOI describes bot access as dependent on an active Premium membership. A character entitlement may remain associated with the account while its use is suspended when Premium ends. An entitlement and usable access are different things.

This is particularly relevant if you plan to try a character and then stop the main subscription. Read the duration and renewal wording for that specific offer. Do not infer ownership of a character, permanent availability of the service or an unrestricted right to its content from the fact that a payment has been made.

What does the privacy policy actually disclose?

JOI lists profile details, information shared in conversations, uploaded media, and text or voice messages among the data it may process. The policy also identifies uses involving external service providers. A conversation that feels personal should therefore not be treated as a confidential professional relationship or a local-only private file.

The policy describes data-deletion requests and notes limits involving legal retention and information already sent to third parties. It also discusses consent for session recording. These disclosures are a reason to check settings and avoid unnecessary identifying details, not proof of either a breach or a flawless security system. We have performed no technical audit.

How should you decide whether to try it?

Choose the character and interaction style first, then verify the exact offer rather than buying a large credit balance speculatively. Our current evidence supports a feature-and-contract comparison, not a claim that the bot remembers better or responds more naturally than alternatives.

For exit planning, check each subscription individually and save the cancellation confirmation. Review the dedicated refund policy before purchase; stopping a renewal and receiving a refund are not interchangeable. An enjoyable preview can justify further testing, but it cannot tell you the long-term cost of the way you will actually use the service.
